A new year, a new start. I am not the same as who I was, and I am going to be different from who I am. Thus, set my vision and work toward it! Let no time be wasted and I will be mature so that God’s will can be done and my dream be fulfilled.
Reflect back what I had experienced last year, there were some important lessons:
1. Vision is very important. I should always go back to my motive/ purpose when I do anything.
Luke 11:34 (NIV) Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness.
Philippians 2: 3-4 (NIV) Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others.
2. Don’t just read/ learn something and walk away, practice it! What’s the use if I myself do not get better after I understand everything? Foundation is the root of excellence.
James 1: 23-25 (NIV) 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
Matthew 7: 24-27 (NIV) 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Well, my year 2011 resolution is simply practice what I had learnt in 2010 =)
